Volunteer at the Kids First Center
Volunteers help with a wide variety of
the activities at Kids First. If any of these opportunities
sound interesting to you, we hope you'll give us a call.
Greet and assist people coming to our Saturday morning Kids First Program
If you are interested in welcoming people to our Saturday
morning Kids First Program, let us know. The volunteer
for this program arrives by 8:00 a.m., makes
coffee and greets people (about 30 - 40 registrants)
for the 8:30 class. There is contact with clients before
and after the program, as well as during break while you
help some people check books out of the Stephanie Yulita
library. You will also be responsible for cleanup after
the program
ends at 12:30. Your friendliness and professionalism will
leave a lasting impression on the people attending their
first program at Kids First.
Co-facilitate a children's support group
Are you interested in working with children? Our Separation
and Divorce Support Groups for children and adolescents - groups
ranging in age from 6 to 18 - are always led by a
paid mental health professional, with the help of a volunteer
co-facilitator who does not need to be a mental health
professional. This volunteer opportunity consists of assisting
the facilitator of the group in whatever way is helpful
and can be a lot of fun! It's important that you
enjoy children and have a flexible nature - no two
groups are ever the same. Groups meet for one afternoon
a week for six weeks at a time.
Become a member of our Annual Gala planning committee
Would you like to help organize a major event? The Gala
Planning Committee is a group of volunteers who pitch in
and organize one of Greater Portland's most exciting
fundraising events. If you like being part of a team that
gets things done and leaves no stone unturned, this is
a chance to have a good time and feel a great sense of
accomplishment. The Gala is different every year and we're
always looking for new ideas.
Join our volunteer Board of Directors
If you are excited about the mission of Kids First, have
an interest in contributing to the organization's strategic
direction and would like to promote the organization
in Maine
as well as nationally, you may be a candidate for our volunteer
Board of Directors. This is a wonderful group of people who
dedicate a good deal of energy to the success of Kids First.
For more information we ask that you contact one of the members
of the Board. |
